“Santa can do it with his 12 Days of Christmas… Let us walk you through our 12 picks leading up to the official start date of Spring”
Some argue 1 September, some 23rd September,
Regardless, we would say it’s more about the feeling! And what better way for the weather to feel like it’s on the up and up like enjoying your favourite tipple at some of Auckland’s best (Cocktail) establishments
Here’s what we think ?
(Please note that these Venues are totally subjective to our personal likes and by no means should make any Venues not on here “not worthy”)
- Twelve, Xuxu Dumpling Bar
“Xuxu Dumpling Bar is a beguiling little corner eatery and bar offering lovingly hand crafted dumplings alongside boutique wines, local beers and seasonal cocktails”. Coupled with as fresh as possible Bar Fare and you have yourself a little winning combo!
- Eleven, Sardine Bar
“Sardine Bar is a funky little cocktail bar located next door to White + Wong’s. Since opening, it’s been tightly packed with guests enjoying the extensive drinks menu and sunny vibes right on the water in Auckland’s central viaduct. The bar carries a thoughtfully chosen wine list which includes French and local bubbles, a fantastic range of white, rosé and red wines plus non-alcoholic options as well. Along with the extensive wines list there’s the option for a custom-made cocktail, tailored to satisfy exactly what you feel like”.
“Bedford is an intimate, New York-inspired neighbourhood bar located in the Ponsonby Central precinct and McKenzies Arcade in Takapuna, we specialise in sumptuous cocktails and tasty meatballs. We are quietly confident that we make some of the nicest drinks that you will taste anywhere in the world”.
- Nine, My Bar
My Bar has the style and elegance of a contemporary wine and cocktail lounge combined with the warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere of your neighbourhood local. The outdoor seating, intimate bar space, and ‘hidden’ location give an experience like the lane bars of Melbourne, Amsterdam, and Prague.
- Eight, Deadshot, Ponsonby
Dark, moody, and set back off the street, the cozy space is well lit with little booth seating and a wrap-around bar. Of course, given the precedent they set with their subterranean sister bar (Caretaker) the cocktails are certifiably off the hook!
- Seven, Vodka Room
“Inspired by a mixed love of authentic Russian cuisine & rarely sourced vodka, Vodka Room has been designed on the ‘after sunset’ stomping grounds of our homeland & its’ imperialist culture. Bringing an inventive cooking style to the familiar flavours of traditional Russian dishes, you will be best served to arrive hungry, prepared to share & with an open mind”.
- Six, Caretaker
A New York style cocktail lounge, inspired by the golden era of bartending. With the belief that the cocktail is a simple thing and what matters is that it’s made right, thus we’ve considered every detail from the fresh pressed juice right down to the ice in your glass.
- Five, Coley & Punch
“Coley & Punch is a bar. Not a venue, not a catwalk, not a hideout. A bar. Named in honour of Ada Coleman, the famous bartender at the Savoy of London’s house bar, pre-war (both of them). Coley & Punch boasts an extensive cocktail list including Ada’s legendary Hanky Panky. If whisky is your tipple, Coley & Punch holds a 250-strong selection of the best whiskies, single malts and scotches from around the world. Not the biggest range in town; but definitely the best. Drop in for palate cleanser; a libation or a cruisey cocktail hour or two. After all, it is a bar. And it’s open”.
- Four, The Jefferson
“From grain to still, barrel and bottle, experience Auckland’s finest whiskey selection. Let us guide you on a journey through unique single malts, bespoke bourbons and rare blends with class and character. This speakeasy will leave you craving just one more dram… after all, it will take you more than one visit to make it through the 600 whiskies on our shelves”.
- Three, The Parasol & Swing Company
“One of the best cocktail bars in Auckland comes with a large deck and sea views—The Parasol and Swing Company. Their cocktail menu includes a selection of vintage cocktails for those who enjoy their Manhattans on the stronger side. Owned by a few of the best people I know!”
- Two, HI-SO Rooftop Bar
SO/ Auckland is the trendiest artistic and musical melting pot in town, if you’re looking for a hip and vibrant place to be, to see and be seen. Pose with your friends for Instagram worthy shots of the Waitemata Harbour on HI-SO rooftop bar or wine and dine in Harbour Society where our SO passionate team of Chefs reinterpret French culinary traditions with an unconventional twist.
- One, The Churchill
Specialising in gin with a view, The Churchill is Auckland’s highest rooftop bar. Positioned on the 20th floor of the Four Points by Sheraton on Queen Street, The Churchill offers panoramic views of the city, stylish surroundings and a carefully curated beverage selection sure to satisfy the most discerning drinker. The ideal spot for an after work drink, a pre show aperitif or an evening get together, drink in the views, cosy up with friends or host an intimate gathering on our private mezzanine.
